Electric is not a option for me because I have no where to park indoors and cannot charge the car. Diesel cars are better for people who do a lot of driving and driving that is more highway than city. That is not me either.

The payback period is long (about 8 years) to recoup the initial cost difference in fuel savings, but doubling the total miles the engine will go tips the scale for me. I keep my vehicles for the long haul. Plus if I want better mileage than I'm getting now on my Metro, I have to go diesel.
