I was wondering if anyone has seen the movie. My 13 year old son got it. I was very suprised by how good it was.

Saw it when it came to a local art-house theatre. Great film; a great "coming-of-age" story with a fascinating look at a different culture.

It was released June 6, 2003, and made $20.8 million domestically and $20.7 million overseas. Its widest release was in only 556 theaters. The $3.5-million movie got one Oscar nomination. It was for Keisha Castle-Hughes' lead performance.
